The Binghamton Jr. Senators traveled to Johnstown, PA for two exhibition games against the North American Hockey League (NAHL)’s Johnstown Tomahawks, on August 31st and September 1st.
“It was an incredible opportunity for our players to play against a Tier II hockey organization, a NAHL team.” Head Coach/Head Scout/Owner Anthony Langevin was quoted saying. “We were only down 2-0 after 2 periods in game 1 and had our chances to be ahead throughout the first two periods. More important than the final score of either game, we gave our players the opportunity to play in front of a NAHL team coaches and fans. Loaded with scouts for both games, our players were given a tremendous opportunity. Our players know what level they need to compete at to be able to play in the NAHL. Although game 2 was a little lopsided, with no help from the referees, we ended stronger than we finished. In addition, we gave a NAHL team a clear opportunity to look at and evaluate our players. A few more weeks of training camp, and we will be ready for our home opener. I can’t wait for what the season has to hold for the 2018-19 Jr. Senators.”
The Jr. Senators were only 1 of 2 Tier III Junior A teams to play against a NAHL team for this upcoming season (out of over 150 Tier III Junior A hockey teams.)
The Jr. Senators open up the season on Friday, September 14th against divisional opponent Niagara Falls PowerHawks at 8pm.
