Wilkes-Barre falls to Roc City in overtime, 7-6 (OT)

John Melcher gave Roc City a 7-6 (OT) victory over Wilkes-Barre when he scored 5:00 into the extra period.

Although Roc City was up by as many as two goals in the third period, Wilkes-Barre kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. Wilkes-Barre pulled to within 5-4 on a power play goal by Guillaume St. Germain at 9:46 in the third period.

Anthony DePetres had a great game for Roc City, netting two goals. DePetres scored on the power play at 10:21 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Roc City and again while 10:59 into the third to make the score 6-5 Roc City.

Roc City\’s offense rang up 45 shots on Wilkes-Barre\’s net. Roc City found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Roc City averages 3.4 goals per game.

Roc City additionally got points from Brian Wade, who also had one goal and two assists. Roc City also had goals scored by Wesley Austin, Sam Cammilleri, and James Lockamyeir, who scored one goal each. More assists for Roc City came via John Wise, who had three and Aiden Conolly and John Papas, who each chipped in one.

Wilkes-Barre forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. Wilkes-Barre surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Wilkes-Barre forced Roc City goalie Justin Nevinger to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.
